The Shoe Wash Bag by Mudroom Co was designed by a mum with teenage kids, to fix the most common complaints about the other shoe wash bags on the market: the problems that made her hesitate to buy one herself.
1. Three compartments, not one open pocket. Other bags hold both shoes together, so they bash each other through the cycle. Ours has two outer compartments, one shoe per side, plus a centre compartment for laces and insoles.
2. A zip that locks. Other bags use single-thread zip tape stitched once, and it can open mid-cycle within three washes. Ours is an engineered zip with a metal locking clip that fastens into a D-ring, teeth facing inward. It was stress tested to 50 cycles at 60°C and 1400 rpm without opening once.
3. ISO 105-C06 grade 4 colour fastness. Our bag is Chalk inside and out, tested to the international standard for textile wash-resistance. Other bags are often yellow, green or grey polyester, which can transfer dye onto light-coloured shoes over multiple cycles.
4. Stress tested for the life of the product. The bag was stress tested to 50 cycles at 60°C and 1400rpm spin, a much harder test than you should ever put your shoes through. That is a durability test, not a wash instruction: shoes go in cold, on a gentle cycle.
